Cold Storage Kids Run 2014

We’ve been looking forward to this event all year round.
The well anticipated annual Cold Storage Kids Run
returns with a brand new scenic venue;
The Meadows, Garden by the Bay!

Hiroshi was running under the category of Sporty Apple Sprint, a 1.6km competitive run for boys aged from 9-10 years old. And since Hiroshi is smaller in size as compared to kids his age, I was initially worried that he will find difficulties in completing the race. But, he has proved me wrong again. Good job Son!

Since Kitson was not in town, I asked Ivy to come by have some fun with the kids.
(Extra pair of hands and eyes to care of for kids too!!)

I was all set for the S-26 Stroller Family Fun Run
with James on Lucky Baby Avenue 2 Buggy.
Check out my stroller race survival kit on the stroller secure bar;
Lucky Baby Clip On Stroller Fan and a really awesome stroller toy too!
We also received a foldable Lucky Baby Sun Shade which we didn’t use much
since our Lucky Baby Avenue 2 Buggy came equipped with Full Canopy.

Check out the other mom bloggers who represented Lucky Baby Avenue 2 Buggy.
Cherie, Ting, Agnes from AT Marketing Consultancy and Mabel.

The scenic location and good company made the 800m Fun Run extra enjoyable.

For the fun of it, I enrolled Sophia into the All Dressed Up Family Fun race. Sophia is dressed in a pretty dance dress while I had the intention to run in my pajamas and fluffy bedroom slippers.

But strangely, the flag off time between the S-26 Stroller Family Fun Run and All Dressed Up Family Fun Run is merely 5 mins apart.

Sophia was slightly disappointed that I won’t be running with her. But instead auntie Ivy took my place and played the cheer leader while running alongside with Sophia!

Even though the run left Hiroshi with aching muscles for the entire week. We are still vividly anticipating for next year’s Cold Storage Kids Run.

Disclaimer: My family was invited to take part in the Cold Storage Kids Run by Full Circle PR, and compensated to race in the S-26 Stroller Fun Run with my Lucky Baby Stroller by Taime (FB page) and AT Marketing Consultancy. All thoughts and opinions are of my own.

Perfect Cupid’s Bow Lips Tutorial

Simple step-by-step Perfect Cupid’s Bow Lips Tutorial to achieving that SEXY look.

This tutorial is done with darker lipstick color
so that it is more visible on the video tutorial.

*NOTE: If using darker lip color,
you need to line and fill in lips with a lip pencil
before applying lipstick to avoid “bleeding” of lip color.

Quick Tips:
– Dab a little lip gloss on the middle
of the upper and lower lips for an illusion of fuller lips.

DBS Marina Regatta 2014 (Post Event)

Vocabulary of the Day: SELFIE
If you haven’t caught on the latest craze of a selfie stick, you should get one too. I’ve never seen the kids this enthusiastic about taking pictures of themselves!!

Sorry about flooding your instagram timeline last Saturday.
But I promise it was all for a good cause.

DBS has pledged to provide a free meal to a primary school student with every #DBSMarinaRegatta post on Instagram during DBS Marina Regatta 2014. This program was supported by the Student Advisory Centre.

Other than the main highlights of dragon boat races…
There were other activities to keep kids happy and busy.

With the kids entertained, it’s time to satisfy my hunger.

Asian Food Festival brings gastronomical delights from all over Asia into one convenient spot. I am in love with the Nasi Kuning from “Indonesia”. But disappointed that I couldn’t get any mango salad from “Thailand”.

With the tummy well taken care of, time to cycle around the bay with these Bamboo bicycles from bamboo bee. But since I was solo parenting; with terrible odds of one against three, I didn’t get to ride on these bikes. What a pity!

James wants to take a boat ride…

So that we can get to the heart of those exciting dragon boat races!

The breezy boat ride was a nice break to the scotching hot weather.

The kids were then charmed by the energetic performers at Asian Drum Challenge.

I was pleasantly surprised with the large turnout at the Asia Cosplay Meet. It was the first time the kids had such close encounter with cosplayers. Sophia was initially intimidated, but eventually was seen running all over the place asking for pictures to be taken with cute anime characters.

Definitely keeping a lookout for next year’s DBS Marina Regatta. Other than the unforgiving weather conditions, it was been an enjoyable experience.

Full Disclosure: We were invited to DBS Marina Regatta 2014 as a Marina Bay Ambassador. All views and opinion are my own.

SAHM Survival Tips | 5 Essential Tips for SAHM with new Baby.

9 years ago an unexpected job fell on my lap.
Faced with the choice of no alternative childcare option from close ones,
expensive infant care and inflexible working hours.
Kitson and myself made one of the most important decisions of our lives.
Surviving on a Single Income!

Being a mother is a tough job. But being a young mother with a husband that travels around the world frequently makes it even harder.

Many have doubted my ability to perform or even stay on the job.

But with positivity and a very supportive husband,
We survived.

This is my top 5 essential tips for SAHM with new baby.

1. Reprogramme
I’ve read many books on pregnancies when I was expecting Hiroshi. Many painted rosy pictures with failure to properly illustrate worst case scenarios. Every child is different. What works for one might not work for another. Parenting cannot be defined by books. Just go with your guts!

2. Breastfeed
If ever possible, latch directly. Save time since there are No bottles to wash and sterilize.

3. Co-Sleep + Synchronized Sleeping
Rather than waiting for a full orchestra to happen… I prefer to co-sleep with my kids. It is easier to pacify a half awake baby than to battle with one that is already screaming his/her lungs out!
Being a mother is tiring, especially in the early days. Make sure you synchronize your sleeping patterns with your baby. Sleep with your baby. Take multiple cat naps. A well rested mom usually performs better.

4. Be Selectively Blind
Your sanity should rank the highest in the chart of your needs. Not housework, not dirty dishes, nor laundry. Take care of yourself and the rest will fall it place.

5. Accept HELP.
There is no award for loosing your mind and putting on a brave front to be Supermom. We all need a little help from time to time.

This post is written for the “SAHM Survival Tips” blog train ran by Gingerbread Mum. There will be a total of 31 mums from the Singapore Mom Bloggers Community to sharing their personal SAHM Survival tips, so make sure you come back here and click on the button below to get more tips!

The next mom on this blog train is Estella at SoOddlyDreamlike.

Mama to a little girl named Joy, Estella is passionate about breastfeeding. She spends her time learning to cook, teach and bring up the love of her life. Estella loves make up, shoes, food and travelling and has recently returned to life as an occasional singer/host. So Oddly Dreamlike is a blog on her parenting and living in Singapore.
