9 and a 1/2

You’ve waited all year round for this day to proclaim to the world
that you are finally 9 and a 1/2.
But in actual fact, you’re only 9.

I find it amusing that as kids, you can’t wait to grow up.
While as parents, we felt that you’re all growing up way too soon.

9 years from the first cries that made me mom,
today we are already celebrating your transition into tweenhood…

Happy Birthday Hiroshi!

We stumbled upon The Queen & Mangosteen at Vivo City (#01-106/107).
The Lunch Special seems like a very good deal!
The Queen and mangosteen Vivo City

Soup of the day was Mushroom Soup. And our votes were unanimous…
Even James agrees that the unadulterated creamy Mushroom Soup is outta this world!

No birthday celebration is ever complete without a trip to Swensen’s for Ice Cream!

Very spacious restaurant. Reasonably priced, but I was hoping for better service.

Finally a family photo to freeze up this precious moment of you being 9 and a 1/2.

James is TWO! (Part 2) | Sakae Sushi

Back Posting: 28 August 2014

The kids were excited to be back from school.
Hiroshi said, I cannot concentrate in school because I am excited about 弟弟’s birthday!
and Sophia chipped in saying, “Me too! Where are we going?!?”

The fact is, they have been counting down to their lil brother’s birthday from their organizers since many many months ago!
James's Birthday on organiser

Hiroshi was escalated to know that we would be celebrating James’s birthday at Sakae Sushi…Coz he loves Salmon Sashimi. Tsk tsk tsk… Very expensive taste buds!! 😋

Sophia loves her Califonia Monkey Maki. 😍

While I am happy with my bowl of chirashi that James is eyeing on!
while I am happy with my bowl of chiraishi

But James eventually decided to stick to his bowl of ramen. And like a true blue foodie, he was seen burying his face in the bowl and slurping ramen loudly.

James way of telling daddy this is how much I Love You!
I love you daddy

Turns out our decision to celebrate James’s birthday at Sakae Sushi was a great idea since he was practically entertained by the moving food on the conveyer belt…
James Sakae Sushi

Food quality seems to have improved at Sakae Sushi. Reasonably priced Japanese food. Service was alright. My only grouse was the restaurant layout was a little too tight.

Happiness is spending time together as a family.

You may be our a little bundle of joy,
but the happiness you spread around is king size.
Happy 2nd Birthday James!

James is TWO! (Part 1) | Modesto’s

Back Posting: 27 August 2014
*extremely guilty that it took me a month to update James’s 2nd Birthday*

Looking at how little we are doing with James in our first trip to zoo posting,
I’ve decided to take pictures of James for 30 days leading up to his second birthday!
James is 2! 30 days to 3 collage

We started the morning by giving him undivided attention.
Celebrating James’s birthday with just the 2 of us at Modesto’s (Katong V).
Modesto's Pizzaria Singapore

Birthday boy had hungry pangs and decides that he could wait no more.
Bruschetta ($4.00/2 pcs) to the rescue!

Traditional Italian Wood-Fired Pizza
Costiera (Mini: $20 Regular: $25) Prawns, Squid & Crabsticks
Rustica (Mini: $18 Regular : $23) Marinated chicken slices, mushrooms & onions
Modesto's Pizza

Thin, crisp crusts with delicious toppings. A choice of having it “yin yang” means I can enjoy 2 pizza flavors at one go! Perfect for greedy people like me. Pizza will be charged the amount of the higher price pizza.

Fusilli Alla Boscaiola ($23.00) & Spaghetti Mare E Monti ($29.00)
Modesto's Pasta

James loved the Fusilli Alla Boscaiola. He was seen stuffing his face in the bowl of pasta, enjoying it and feeling very accomplished from self feeding.

Affogato Al Café ($10.00)
Single scoop vanilla ice-cream, topped with freshly brewed Italian espresso.
Modesto's Affogato Al Cafe

Tiramisú Modesto’s ($14.00)
One of the better Tiramisú I’ve tasted so far. And I must say I have high expectations for my Tiramisú, since there were only 2 that passed my stringent taste buds.

We were given a scoop of complimentary gelato for James’s birthday celebration. We appreciate the kind gesture. James totally love digging into the gelato in search for fresh blueberries and strawberries. *2 thumbs up!*
tiramisu Modesto's

On the overall, service has been topnotch. With a 50% off ala carte menu promotion, it was extremely valued for money! Restaurant ambiance is spacious and comfortable.

But unfortunately, Modesto’s at Katong V has ceased operation since 30th August 2014. There are still 3 other Modesto’s outlet situated at Orchard Parade Hotel, The Elizabeth Hotel and Vivo City. We’ll be back for more traditional Italian wood-fried Pizza! 😉

The birthday boy was happy and on a sugar high from all the cakes and ice creams he had. But, this post only conclude the first part of James’s Birthday celebration.

The birthday excitement goes on.
Come back and read all about part 2 of James’s Birthday Celebration…

Happy 7th Birthday Sophia! | Jamie’s Italian (Vivo City)

Being 7 is exceptionally special in my opinion.

It’s the age that I suddenly lose the innocence of my kids to the educational system of Singapore. When it comes to education, I believe that some things cannot be rushed. But somehow, peer pressure has its own devious way of rubbing into my kid’s system! 😥

To celebrate Sophia’s 7th Birthday and surviving the first 6 months of primary school, we decided to indulge on a good meal at Jamie’s Italian at Vivo City Singapore.
Jamie's Italian Singapore

I love the rustic interior. And being a huge fan of Jamie Oliver I marveled over books and various merchandise at the main reception area.
Jamie's Italian Singapore interior

What a teaser! Freshly made pasta was located near the main reception area totally whet my appetite! By then We were already as hungry as a pack of wolves!
Jamie's Italian Singapore Fresh Pasta

Once we were seated at our table, kids were entertained with coloring activities.
They even had the View-Master toy which I vividly remembered having back in the 80s!
(Plus kids menu with “real food” to excite the kids too!)

Service was tardy at the beginning but soon picked up after food were served.

To round up the enjoyable meal,

Apart from service, which was abit disappointing at the beginning, the food has exceeded my expectations. Ambiance was great for all occasions and kids friendly too! Definitely value for money in my personal opinion. Strongly Recommended!

With our tummies all settled, there was still unfinished business. The search of the Perfect Birthday Gift. And as usual, Sophia gets to pick her own birthday present.

There was a 999 Pure Gold Disney Cuties collection road show by SK Jewellery. Sophia was drawn to those adorable precious gold like bees to honey.
#SKJewellery #999PureGoldDisneyCuties

A couple of designs caught her eyes. It was definitely a tough fight between Winnie the Pooh and Minnie Mouse. She eventually choose the Minnie Mouse Necklace. And due to some in-store promotion, Sophia gets to bring home a complimentary 24K gold plated Winnie the Pooh Collectible too! Best of Both World and Best Birthday Gift Ever! I guess this marks the start of her mini gold endowment fund.

That’s not it… Even Hiroshi gets a
Reward for being an AWESOME Brother!

Happy Birthday dear Sophia!

There is no one alive who is Youer than You.”
~Dr. Seuss

Happy Birthday Mummy!

Mom requested to celebrate her birthday Tsubohachi (Bugis+).
A sister company to where she was working at Ramen Champion.

We were pretty impressed with the interior design and settings.

Service was top notch.

Great Food Presentation. But however, the food pales in comparison as compared to the mouth watering pictures reflected on the menu. We definitely love the Philadelphia Roll. It was something out of the norm and very appetizing! But the miserable thin slices of raw sashimi on the salmon don and chirashi don just won’t cut it!

But ultimately, it is still the company that counts right?!?!?

With our stomach filled to the brim,
we forge on in search of the perfect birthday cake for this occasion.

Our search brought us to Chocolate Origin located at the basement of Bugis Junction.

The entire store concept looks like a direct rip off from Awfully Chocolate, with only 3 product on it’s menu. Original Chocolate Cake, Dark Chocolate Cake and Cuppa Lava Cake. To be honest, I wan’t expecting much….

We ordered a 6″ Original Chocolate Cake at $29. Hold and Behold, I “EAT” my words back! It was LOVE at first bite!! The perfect marriage of rich luscious chocolate ganache entrapping two thin layers of chocolate sponges, finished with a chocolate glaze. The cake was so smooth it reminded me of Royce chocolate! It was made perfectly!

Chocolate makes me Happy.
And it was the perfect way to round the night up!

Happy 56th Birthday Mummy!
Stay Happy, Healthy and Pretty till Eternity!
